Friday’s research led me to this handy dandy map showing the minimum wages for every state in the union. Ooops – some states don’t have a minimum – guess you just can’t be too poor for them.
Can you guess which ones? I’ll give you a hint – they are all “red” states.

Gee, could they be the same states that get a lot of corporate wellfare? During the last presidential election, and the genesis of the “red state”/”blue state” division, my brother did some research to show that if the blue states succeeded in seceeding from the union, the remaining red states would be unable to meet their financial obligations.
The blue states pay the most taxes, while the red states receive the most federal money–mostly in the form of subsidies to corporate farming and energy.
The worst offender: Wyoming, a red state which pays the least in federal taxes (having the smallest population and no major industry) and receives among the most in subsidies to ranchers and oil & gas companies.
Of course, this is all from memory from nearly 6 years ago. I will try to find this information again!
